Volunteer ServicesThe Children's Aid Society of the County of Bruce is a non-profit agency working in local communities to provide help and support to children and their families. The purpose of the volunteer services is to strengthen, enhance and augment the services to families of Bruce County as mandated in the "Child and Family Services Act". Child Welfare is a community concern that requires community involvement and commitment. The involvement of community volunteers can improve both the quality of the Society's service to children and families. Volunteer applicants are carefully screened to ensure the safety and security of the children and families we serve. All potential volunteers participate in an interview with the volunteer coordinator. We will explain current volunteer opportunities and the benefits you can expect to gain from volunteering with us, while assessing your interests and skills to ensure that volunteering with CAS is the best fit for both you and us. We will also require:
* Potential volunteers will be reimbursed for any fees charged. We work with a very vulnerable segment of our population and their rights to privacy and security are respected. Volunteer ProgramsDRIVE PROGRAM (Click Here to View Volunteer Opportunity)Volunteer drivers are approved by the society to, at the request of the society, provide transportation for children and families to school, medical appointments, counseling sessions, family visits and any other transportation need we might determine exists. Drivers stipulate their availability and range of travel. Drivers receive reimbursement for out of pocket expenses incurred. Orientation and ongoing training is provided. Over 40 drivers log some 40,000 kilometres each month on behalf of the society. Volunteer drivers express huge enjoyment and satisfaction from their interaction with children and families. TUTOR / HOMEWORK CLUB PROGRAM (Click Here to View Volunteer Opportunity)Volunteer tutors work one on one with children to help them achieve their academic goals. Children ranging in age from 7 - 16 who need some extra assistance with learning concepts benefit enormously from the help of our volunteers. Sessions can take place in the child's home, a local library or other suitable place of study. We are currently piloting a homework club and volunteer opportunities are available now for students and community members in the Kincardine area who wish to participate. Volunteer travel expenses may be reimbursed. Orientation and ongoing training is provided. Volunteer tutors express huge satisfaction when they know that a child's self esteem, grades and understanding of concepts have improved because of their help. You can be a volunteer with us if you:
